ABOUT THE GUIDES
How Puptionary uses sources
Useful starting points for life with a dog—with room for individual differences, questions and better information.
Breed information and its limits
Our guides bring together breed-registry standards, kennel-club and breed-club references, and information from Dog API. References vary by breed. Use View breed references on a guide to see its available links and read the original material.
Introductions and practical care summaries are adapted for everyday reading. Some guidance is general, not specific to that breed. Adult size ranges and breed tendencies are starting points, not puppy growth targets or promises about an individual dog. Where a rating is unavailable, it is left out.
Linking to an organization does not mean it endorses Puptionary or has reviewed our wording. Sources can disagree or change; check the original guidance when making a decision.
Care guidance is educational
Puptionary does not provide a veterinary assessment. Discuss health, growth, diet and suitable activity with your veterinarian. For behaviour concerns, seek qualified, humane professional support.
A highlighted caution is not a complete list of a breed’s health risks. A guide without a highlighted caution does not imply that the breed has no health concerns.
Names are ideas, not rankings
Our name descriptions, styles and breed tags are editorial inspiration. They are not verified etymologies, popularity rankings or evidence that a name scientifically suits a breed. Mixed-breed dogs and dogs of unknown breed can use the same collection.
AI assistance and review
AI tools, including Codex, assist with drafting, development and simulated feedback. Those simulated perspectives are not interviews with real dog owners or reviews by veterinarians or other qualified professionals.
Automated tests and browser checks help check content consistency and site behaviour. They do not validate every health claim. Puptionary has not established independent veterinary review of the complete collection.
